I bought this set for my kids. The whole bag of dark pieces was missing. The workmanship on the board certainly leaves much to be desired. The board is uneven, scratched, and wobble. Remains of paint and lack all around. This is definitely the worst product I ever bought online. These guys deserve a -100 in quality control.

I bought this set to get back into chess after 30 years. For the price, it's probably a good value. The pieces are fairly well made, though rather light. The workmanship on the board leaves much to be desired. The board is uneven and wobble, something that can be fixed by sanding the feet, though one wonders why that wasn't done in production. The wood is lacquered rather sloppily, but then, I'm a woodworker, and will probably make my own board next time. What would I get instead? I'd recommend getting a regulation vinyl mat board and nice heavy plastic pieces. It's easier to tote around and better for play. And a lot cheaper. If you want a wooden set that looks nice sitting out on a table, you'll have to spend a lot more money.

The set is okay, I noticed 4 spots of dried plastic glue over the board, and one small glob on the edge ( unable to remove any of it)So it seems the workers in the workshop where they make these were a little sloppy with their work. (not really too noticeable)
The pieces are light weight.
I'll use it to teach my gf how to play, but I plan to spend a more for a set I can show off or put on for display, because this one won't do.

Good solid chess set.I gave it a 3 rather than a 5 only because its a bit of a chore to store the peices individually on the back. Tried putting the peices in a plastic bag as some suggested but found I had to keep track of two bags and the board. Good for home set but certainly not for travel.

The set is well priced and the design is well thought out - especially the economical and utilitarian use of the under-side of the 'raised' board to keep the pieces organized and away from getting lost. It's nice (not cheap) looking and durable. The game is timeless and the design is appropriately classic.
