This combo chess/backgammon set looks pretty, but is made from thin wood. The quality control is lacking as I received some chess pieces that had damage, but the damage was polished over, meaning they did not look at the pieces before the finishing touches. My beige queen does not have a butt (which maybe is good for her?), and some other pieces have divots and dings. The backgammon side is nice (the only good thing about the board). The biggest problem with this set is the handle for carrying the unit has D rings that stick out too far (you can see the handle in the picture). Therefore, when laying the board on the side for chess, the D rings do not allow the board to sit flat! Who designed this?? I ended up removing the D rings and the handle, and I even had to move the clips that hold the board together when folded. The clips are also simple clips without latches, so they tend to slip. I am unsure if others had issues with this since I did not see it in the other 2 reviews (there were only 2 reviews before I purchased).
This board was not worth it for me. I did not return it since we don't have kids (therefore the thin wood is not a problem), and I can deal with a butt-less queen. But, I would NOT recommend the board nor would I purchase another one. Better quality is found with a cheap plastic board in my opinion.

The folding 20" wooden Chess, Checkers, and Backgammon set is better than I expected. While the wooden playing pieces are simply carved, they are quite adequate for play and appear to be durable. The board/case however, is very nicely done and the wood grain is beautiful. The furniture (hinges, latches, handle) are well fit. The final finish is smooth and appears to be well waxed. I expect to get many years of use from this set and I think the $30 price is fair for such a quality board/case.

I absolutely love the combination chess board and backgammon game set. What makes this design so wonderful is that the folding board also has a handle to carry this combination game set. The major downside to this set is that the construction is made of very very thin wood or stimulated wood and is extremely fragile. This would not be a good game set for young people because of its lack of durability.

Bought this for my grandson (age 24) for a Christmas present and he loves it. He's taught his girlfriend to play and they play at every opportunity. Good quality and its held together very well.

For a wooden set that includes both the circular pieces and the chess pieces, this was quite a deal.
The pieces aren't perfect and do display a little variation, but nothing too distracting. There were complaints in other reviews about the wood being thin and flimsy, but I have found the construction to be quite adequate. I dont think this board will break under normal usage. its not perfect, and nobody will mistake this board for something hand-carved...but if you're more concerned about being able to play the game, this is exactly what you need. I think the wood is much classier than the old plastic set that i had--and all the pieces store easily inside when it's not in use.
